This policy covers Sauce Pup version 1.0. Visits to this website are additionally covered by the website privacy policy (German).

2. Playing and saving on your device

You can play without registering. Local data includes level and XP, bones, unlocked dogs, order progress and stars, daily goals, discovered materials, trophies, settings and the last eight gallery pictures of your creations. Unfinished creations are not saved permanently. This local storage provides the game (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).

3. Apple iCloud and device backups

On iPhone and iPad, when an iCloud account is available, Sauce Pup keeps a copy of the save in your Apple account’s private CloudKit database. Your save, including settings and gallery, can then sync between your Apple devices. The app uses an app-specific Apple identifier and does not request your name or Apple email address. This private copy stays with Apple, separate from our Supabase database.

Turn off iCloud sync under Settings → Save & cloud. Doing so does not automatically delete an existing copy. Enabled iOS or Android device backups may also restore local game data when moving devices. Android device backup is not continuous Google Play Games synchronization. Platform services are covered by Apple’s or Google’s privacy terms. The legal basis for the requested save feature is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

4. Optional cross-platform cloud

The additional grubenhund cloud is activated only after you enter an email address and confirm the one-time code. Sauce Pup creates no Supabase account without this sign-in. The service provider is Supabase, Inc.; the project stores game saves in Frankfurt, Germany.

Stored data includes your email, account identifier, game and language for sign-in emails, your save including gallery and settings, a summary with level, finished creations, stars and bones, revision number, platform (iOS, Android or web) and save timestamps. Saves belong to their account and are not public. Sauce Pup does not load saves from other games. The same email sign-in may, however, use a shared grubenhund account.

Synchronization is used solely for backup and restoration (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). If two devices make conflicting changes, you choose before a save is overwritten. A local recovery copy is kept before applying a cloud save. Signing out stops synchronization on this device but does not delete existing cloud data.

5. Sign-in codes and technical logs

Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) processes the recipient address, message content, time and delivery status to send your one-time code. We send no marketing emails. Resend specifies 30-day retention of emails and sending logs on standard plans. Sign-ins and cloud requests generate provider security and operational logs, such as IP address, browser or device information, account identifier, time and error status. These support operation, troubleshooting and abuse prevention, not advertising profiles (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

6. Pictures, permissions and tracking

Gallery pictures are generated from the game. The app does not access your camera, microphone, contacts or existing photo library. When exporting a picture, you choose where to save it and who to share it with in the download or share menu. With cloud saving enabled, generated gallery pictures form part of the save.

There are no in-app purchases, public gallery or chat. The game does not use a separate analytics service.

7. Advertising and privacy choices

Google AdMob is used for optional rewarded videos and occasional interstitial ads between rounds. The advertising SDK remains inactive until a player chooses “16 or older” before a video bonus. Choosing under 16 keeps ads disabled. Only the age category is stored locally, not a birth date. All gameplay and unlocks remain accessible without ads.

Google’s User Messaging Platform requests applicable privacy choices before the advertising SDK starts. Consent can be managed or withdrawn in Settings → Ad privacy. The app requests non-personalized ads and does not request access to Apple’s advertising identifier via ATT. Non-personalized ads can still use device storage and process IP addresses (including approximate location), app/device identifiers, advertising interactions and diagnostic/performance information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Precise location permission is not requested.

Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Consent-dependent storage and processing rely on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and §25(1) TDDDG; strictly necessary operations and fraud prevention may rely on the applicable statutory exceptions and legitimate interests. Google explains purposes, recipients, retention and international transfers in its privacy policy and partner information. You can decline consent and continue playing. TestFlight and debug builds use Google test advertisements.

8. Retention, recipients and deletion

Local data remains until you remove the app or website data. Cloud saves and linked emails remain until deletion. “Delete cloud account” removes the Sauce Pup save from the optional cloud. The shared account and its email are also deleted if no other grubenhund game still holds a save for that account. Local data, exported pictures and the private iCloud copy must be removed separately. See Delete data.

Technical logs and backups may remain until their operational retention periods expire; they are not used as active saves. Support messages are kept only to handle your request and for as long as needed for that purpose, subject to statutory retention duties.

Apple, Google, Supabase and Resend may also process data outside the EU, particularly in the United States. Information on recipients, subprocessors and international transfer safeguards is available from Supabase, Resend, Apple and Google. Storing saves in Frankfurt does not mean all operational or email data is processed exclusively within the EU.

9. Your rights and contact

Subject to applicable legal conditions, you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may withdraw consent for the future. Contact info@grubenhund.com. For cloud requests, provide the email used for sign-in where possible. We never ask for your password or one-time code.

You may complain to a data protection authority, in particular the North Rhine-Westphalia authority. No automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are made. Cloud sign-in and support information are optional; you can play locally without an account.
